Dari Pasif Ke Aktif: Peran Taqdīm Al-Ārā’ dalam Meningkatkan Mahārah al-Kalām Siswa
Abstract
Most students experience difficulties in expressing opinions orally due to low self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and speaking anxiety. Conversely, Language Education Institution (LPBA) Nurul Jadid implements a distinctive activity, Taqdīm al-Ārā’, providing a structured, communicative space for students to convey oral arguments dynamically. This study aims to describe the implementation of Taqdīm al-Ārā’ and uncover its implications for the development of students' mahārah al-kalām (speaking skills) at LPBA Nurul Jadid. Employing a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through observation, interviews, documentation, and supplementary questionnaires distributed to 30 intermediate students. Data analysis followed the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Taqdīm al-Ārā’ has substantial positive implications for developing students' mahārah al-kalām. It successfully accelerates language fluency, expands vocabulary, and habits students to construct coherent arguments. Psychologically, it serves as a safe environment (bī'ah āminah) that reduces language anxiety and fosters high public speaking confidence. Methodologically, its interactive nature fulfills the core tenets of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), making it an effective alternative instructional strategy for developing foreign language proficiency in pesantren-based educational institutions.
